Playing a tower defense game is easy, but to clear levels easily, it is important to get the best units that fit your strategy. In Universal Tower Defense X, it is no different. You get different styles of anime characters, from hybrid or ground damage dealers to money makers. This makes it hard to pick the meta units easily. Check out our Universal Tower Defense X tier list, which ranks the best units in the game so you can win all your levels smoothly and know which characters to pull.
Editor’s Note: We updated the Universal Tower Defense X tier list on May 1, 2026, after the 2.5 update.

Best Universal Tower Defense X Units
Below, we have listed all the characters from Universal Tower Defense X based on their abilities. We have also mentioned why you should pull a specific Universal Tower Defense character.
SS Tier Units
These units are the absolute best in the game, defining the current meta through infinite scaling, massive damage, or unique boss-killing mechanics.
| Unite Name | Role | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Jinoo (Monarch) | DPS / Summoner | Infinite scaling through mana and shadow summons. Extends defense line and dominates long modes once ramped. |
| Water God (Primordial) | DPS / Utility | Combines DoT, slow, crit ramp, and scaling damage. Thrives in longer maps with strong synergy. |
| First Emperor (Greatest) | Specialist / Support DPS | Extremely flexible with stance switching. Adds CC, bleed, and team follow-up attacks, boosting overall team output. |
| Ant King (Savage) | DPS Carry | Kill-based scaling with strong AoE and slow. Snowballs hard and can carry entire waves. |
| Phantom Captain (EVO) | DPS / Summoner | Planes ignore range limits and provide constant AoE pressure with strong burst windows. |
S+ Tier Units
If you are unable to pull SS tier units, these Universal Tower Defense X characters will let you slice through the enemy list with ease.
| Unite Name | Role | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Migumen (Finale) | DPS | True damage and massive burst. One of the highest damage nukes but risky due to self-stun. |
| Ichiko (Rage) | DPS | Strong scaling through kills with built-in stun. Becomes a late-game powerhouse. |
| Dragon Guy (Silverite) | DPS / Utility | Burst transformation with strong synergy and emergency tools. Falls off after duration ends. |
| Berserker (Enraged) | DPS | Excellent anti-armor unit with strong scaling. Less effective against normal waves. |
| Underworld God (Death) | DPS / CC | Gains damage per debuff and adds stun after scaling. Strong mix of control and damage. |
| Enlightened God (Holy) | Support / DPS | Provides stacking buffs and flexible stance utility. Needs setup to shine. |
| First Human (Father) | Support / DPS | Copies nearby unit effects for flexible utility. Strong but team-dependent. |
| Tai Yang | Specialist | Manual targeting with burn, stun, and confusion. Best in fire-heavy setups. |
S Tier Units
The S tier units are more about going through the story mode than clearing raids or boss fights. Move to better units as soon as you can.
| Unite Name | Role | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Grommjaw (Panther) | DPS / Debuffer | Applies damage vulnerability and bleed scaling, boosting team damage output. |
| Bio-Android | DPS | Evolves mid-game into a strong carry with CC. Slow start but strong payoff. |
| Rohan & Robot 16 | DPS | Consistent combo damage with strong burst. Needs ramp time. |
| Super Roku (Enraged) | DPS / Utility | Teleport and stun mechanics provide strong control. Weak early, strong late. |
