With the start of IPL 2018 just hours away, ACT Fibernet has announced 250GB of free data for its customers as part of its T20 Data Surprise. The tournament starts today with the Mumbai Indians hosting the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium from 8 pm.
The matches will be available for viewing exclusively on Hotstar for those with a premium subscription or with the all-new Rs. 299 Sports pack. However, those with a Jio or Airtel subscription can watch the tournament for free, thanks to a partnership with Hotstar. While Airtel subscribers will get to watch the matches on Airtel TV, Jio subscribers can switch on JioTV to watch the matches for free.
Meanwhile, ACT Fibernet is also offering an extra 1500GB data to its Bengaluru customers who have subscribed to its long-validity 6-month and 12-month packs, with the extra data to be allotted in 300GB installments every month from April to August.
It’s interesting how ISPs in the country are suddenly falling over one another to offer free high-speed data to users, given that not so long ago, data used to be super slow and prices used to be super expensive.
Reliance Jio obviously deserves the lions’ share of the credit for democratizing internet in the country with its value-for-money data packs, and after changing the wireless landscape over the past couple of years, the company looks all set to repeat its success in the wired broadband market with the launch of Jio Fiber that’s expected to offer up to Gigabit speeds at relatively affordable price-points.
