2023 brought us some pretty good TV shows, majorly contributing to our already high screen time. However, be prepared to push it even higher in 2024 because streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO are cooking up some excellent shows to keep us occupied. In this post, we give you a rundown of the top 10 TV shows you should watch without fail in 2024. These shows include game adaptations, some samurai action, some superhero stuff, and a lot more. So be prepared to build a watchlist your friends might envy you for!

1. Star Wars: The Acolyte

A brand new venture of the Star Wars franchise, called Star Wars: The Acolyte, is set to release in 2024. According to the synopsis, this upcoming series is set almost 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace.

This new series follows the story of a former Padawan who is reunited with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of dark crimes that turn out to be even more sinister than expected. If we talk about the cast, Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-Jae have been onboarded in lead roles under the direction of Leslye Headland.

As of now, the official release date for this series has not been revealed. We’ll update you once we have more information.

2. Shogun

Shogun is going to be a 10-episode mini-series and is a live-action adaptation of a novel of the same name written by James Clavell. This series is going to be a historical epic drama that revolves around an English sailor whose shipwreck leads him to Japan, a Japanese feudal lord, and a female samurai.

Shogun is set to release on Disney Plus, Hulu, and FX on February 27, 2024.

3. The Penguin

One of the major shows coming out in 2024 is Penguin by DC Studios. This series will take place in the same universe as The Batman released in 2022. Yeah, the one that starred Robert Pattinson as Batman, gaining him a ton of appreciation from critics. Even I ranked Pattinson in the Top 5 in my list of the best actors to play Batman on the big screen.

The Penguin TV series will see Colin Farrel as the Penguin, following the character after a week of the events seen in The Batman. We will see Penguin’s rise to power in the crime world of Gotham. The Penguin is set to air on Max by late 2024.

4. Mr. and Mrs. Smith

The first introduction we had of Mr. and Mrs. Smith was with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2005, and now, the spectacular spy couple is back with a brand new reboot. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be an action comedy series revolving around John and Jane Smith who are spies under the cover of being married.

This TV series casts Donald Glover as John Smith and Maya Erskine as Jane Smith in the lead roles. This series will be released on February 2, 2024, and we cannot wait to see Glover add some zing to the role.

5. The Boys (Season 4)

The Boys, one of the biggest shows in OTT history, is coming back with its season 4 in 2024. This series is based on a comic book run that goes by the same name and features iconic characters such as William Butcher and Homelander.

This series takes place in a world where superheroes are not very, “hero-like”, instead they are power-hungry and evil — the worst of them being Homelander. William Butcher forms a team of Rebels called “The Boys” to put an end to their tyranny.

In The Boys Season 4, we will see the influence of Victoria Neuman increase significantly while the face of superheroes, Homelander, tightens his grip over supes as well as normal people. This forces Butcher to form new alliances while fighting harder against Homelander and his tyranny.

6. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The Walking Dead is easily one of the longest-running shows to date with its main storyline along with numerous spinoffs. 2024 brings us another long-awaited spinoff of The Walking Dead series, revolving around Rick and Michonne.

Rick had been presumed dead for a long time, however, proof of him still being alive keeps surfacing to and fro. In this TV series, Rick makes his escape while Michonne is out looking for him. Although exact details about this show are not out, we will most probably get to see what happened to Rick after the bridge incident.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be released on February 25, 2024, on AMC. Can’t wait for this time *zombie sounds*

7. Masters of The Air

One of the most intense and awaited war adaptations, Masters of the Air, is an Apple TV exclusive revolving around World War 2. Masters of the Air will follow the story of the 100th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Forces, often referred to as the “Bloody Hundredth” for the significant amount of casualties they faced during the war.

This upcoming Apple TV+ series also boasts a spectacular star cast including Ncuti Gatwa, Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Callum Turner, Austin Butler, and Freddy Carter. Masters of the Sky is set to release on January 26 on Apple TV+.

8. Fallout

If we talk about highly anticipated TV shows, Fallout easily makes its way into the top 10. This series is a live-action adaptation of a post-apocalyptic video game of the same name where nuclear powers have increased significantly leading to a Nuclear War.

This led society to take refuge in underground faults. Two centuries after this incident, a young girl leaves the vaults embarking on an adventure in a decimated Los Angeles. This adventure will lead her to face vicious mutated creatures and hostile adversaries as well. The Fallout TV show is set to premiere on April 12, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.

9. House of the Dragon (Season 2)

Season 2 of House of Dragon is set to air in 2024, bringing us a prequel spinoff of Game of Thrones. House of Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones following the fall of the House Targaryen.

Emma D’Arcy plays the role of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen in this. Now, if we look at the reviews the first season received, it’s pretty self-explanatory that this series will possibly break the charts when it is released. We do not have an official release date for the new season, but we do know that it will be released in the summer of 2024.

10. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Based on the highly popular animated series that ran from 2005 to 2008, The Last Airbender is a live-action adaptation of this series airing on Netflix. The story essentially consists of special people who have the ability to “bend” or manipulate one of the four elements – Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

This series will revolve around Aang, who is the Avatar and the last living bridge between the human and the spirit world. He is the only one left who can control all four elements. This series will be released on February 22, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
