After months of rumors and leaks, Apple has finally taken the wraps off the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max at its ‘Wonderlust‘ event. The new iPhones succeed the iPhone 14 Pro series and bring several upgrades like a USB Type-C port, the new A17 Pro Bionic chipset, and a lot more to the table. Here’s a look at what we got!

iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max: Specs and Features

The iPhone 15 Pro models look a lot like their predecessors but showcase a few noteworthy changes. The phones come with a titanium build, much like the Apple Watch Ultra for the ‘most premium‘ look on an iPhone and a lightweight and strong chassis. The phone also has a 100% recyclable aluminum frame, which is meant for better heat dissipation.

You finally get the USB Type-C 3.0 port (up to 20x faster than USB-C 2.0) something which has happened for the first for an iPhone. As rumored, there’s the new customizable Action button, replacing the mute button we have been seeing for years. This will help you access the camera, flashlight, translation, and more.

There’s Dynamic Island too. The iPhone 15 Pro gets the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display while the 15 Pro Max features the big 6.7-inch screen size. Carrying forward the two-year-old ritual, these two phones get support for a 120Hz refresh rate, thanks to ProMotion, and support the Always-on-Display (AOD) functionality. The displays get a layer of Ceramic Shield for enhanced protection.

As for what’s underneath, you get the new A17 Pro Bionic chipset (this is the first time the iPhone chipset has got the Pro branding!), which is based on the industry-first 3nm process and includes a 6-core CPU and a 6-core GPU for up to 10% faster CPU and 20% faster GPU performance. It supports hardware-based ray tracing too. brings performance and graphics improvements. The iPhone 15 Pro comes in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, has 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.

The camera configuration remains the same; there’s the 48MP main camera with second-gen OIS, along with an ultra-wide and telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, standing at 12MP. This is where one major difference between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max pops up; the latter has support for 5x optical zoom and 120mm focal length for better zooming, which has been expected for a while. There’s a 12MP selfie shooter too. You get enhanced night mode, macro photography, portrait mode, ProRes videos, Spatial videos (for 3D videos to be viewed on the Vision Pro), Smart HDR, and much more.

The new iPhone 15 Pro models can provide an ‘all-day‘ battery life, WiFi 6E, and next-gen ultrawide band chip, among other things. These run the latest iOS 17, which brings features like NameDrop, new enhancements for the Messages app with the Check In feature, the StandBy feature, and much more.

Price and Availability

The iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999 (~ Rs 82,700) while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a starting price of $1,199 (~ Rs 99,300), turning the price hike rumors true This is higher than the starting price of ($1,099) of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

These will be up for pre-order, starting September 15, and will be finally available for purchase from September 22. The iPhone 15 Pro models come in Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium, and Natural Titanium colorways.
