  • The button combinations and patterns vary depending on your Fire Stick remote generation.

The remote is the least likable thing about an Amazon Fire TV Stick because it’s known to develop issues over time. There might be times when the remote might malfunction or no longer work even though it is connected to your Fire TV Stick. Thankfully, there are a few ways to go about this, so here’s how to reset your Amazon Fire Stick TV remote.

1. Reset the Fire Stick or Alexa Voice Remote

You can reset a Fire Stick Remote using a combination of buttons, similar to how you can use a different button combination to restart your Fire TV Stick.

  1. Unplug the Fire TV Stick from the HDMI and power supply and wait for 60 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the Left + Menu + Back buttons at the same time for at least 12 seconds.

  1. Reseat the batteries back into the remote and press and hold the home button for around 10 seconds to start pairing. Check for a blue LED indicator to light up, as it means your remote is now paired to the Fire TV Stick.

2. Reset 1st Gen and Basic Edition Remotes

The process of resetting the 1st Gen Alexa remote is quite similar to resetting the current Gen Fire Stick. The only difference is you do not have to hold the Back button.

Resetting the basic edition remote, if you still own it, is quite different, though.

  1. First, press and hold the Home button and then press the Menu button thrice.
