Google Maps Now Lets You Save Parking Location

Google Maps has always been one of the best navigation apps, leading from the front with new features being added with such a high frequency, it seems the app was made to be updated every other week. Google has just recently added another handy new feature, that is the ability to save parking location, to the widely popular application, solving one of the major problems people face in cities stuffed with multi-level, multi-acre parking lots. While the beta version of Google Maps on Android has had this feature for quite a while, it’s only now that the feature has been released for everyone.

When you park your car somewhere, you can now just tap on the blue “Your Location” marker on the map and you’ll be able to mark it as your parking location. Not just that, in the Android app you’ll also have access to other features where you can add notes to the parking location, and if you’re parked at a meter, you can enter the time left. Maps will even notify you 15 minutes before your parking meter runs out, so you can avoid tickets. Plus, you can add photos of the parking space to the marker itself.

On iOS, while you can save the parking location, there are no options to add notes to it, or add a timer for the parking meter. You can, however, add photos to the parking marker. This comes as an addition to the automatic parking detection feature in the iOS app which saves your parking location if you had your phone connected to your car’s Bluetooth, or USB audio device.

Google has definitely been paying a lot of attention to the needs of the users, and as always, has been coming up with neat, intuitive, and easy to use ways to solve their problems.
