A new dawn of Marvel is set to begin with the release of Captain America: Brave New World. This movie will bring in Sam Wilson as the official Captain America for the first time in a live-action movie. However, there are other multiple notable characters set to appear in this flick. so let’s talk about the star-studded cast of Captain America: Brave New World!
1. Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America
Anthony Mackie’s journey as the Falcon began with his appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He became a friend of Steve Rogers and gradually became an Avenger after the events of the Age of Ultron. However, soon after becoming a part of the team, he became a fugitive after helping Captain America go against the Sokovia Accords. After all of this, in Avengers: Endgame the old Steve Rogers handed his shield over to Sam and asked him to carry on the legacy of Captain America.
After denying it for a long time, Sam finally picked up the shield and a new Vibranium suit and took up the mantle of Captain America in Captain America and The Winter Soldier. Now, according to the trailer of Captain America: Brave New World it seems as if Sam wishes to reinstate the Avengers and will officially take over the position of Captain America after being asked by President Thaddeus Ross.
2. Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/The Falcon
One of the latest additions to the MCU is Joaquín Torres played by Danny Ramirez. He made his first appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. In the series, he is a lieutenant in the United States Air Force and also works as an Intelligence Officer alongside Sam. He is the first one to inform Sam about the Flag Smashers and the massive threat they pose to global security. Since Sam has become Captain America, Torres, using Sam’s old gear has become the new Falcon and will appear in the role for the first time in Brave New World.
3. Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross
One of the biggest reveals in the cast of Captain America: Brave New World was the inclusion of legendary actor Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. He will carry on the legacy of the late William Hurt who played the character in The Incredible Hulk and multiple other initial MCU movies. In Captain America: Brave New World, we will see Thaddeus Ross as the President of the United States who has a complicated dynamic with Sam Wilson. In one of the clips, we see him asking for Sam’s support and appreciating him while in another clip, we see Ross shouting at Sam.
Another reason for his appearance to be so hyped is that he is going to turn into the Red Hulk which is the first time this character is appearing in live-action making him the third Hulk-related character appearing in live-action after Skaar and She-Hulk.
4. Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/The Leader
Tim Blake Nelson previously appeared as Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk and the announcement of his casting was a massive shock to Marvel fans. In the second part of The Incredible Hulk, we saw that their Sterns got contaminated with Bruce Banner’s blood which began to turn him into something.
However, we never got to see what he turned into but according to the comic books, Sterns turned into The Leader, a super-intelligent villain. The fun part is that Tim Blake Nelson has been cast as The Leader in Captain America’s Brave New World, which is one of the most anticipated aspects of the film.
5. Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder
Giancarlo Esposito is also making his MCU debut after being cast in Captain America: Brave New World. When his cast was revealed, there was no information regarding the role he would be playing leaving it open for speculation. However, at the July 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Esposito will appear as Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World. Since Esposito’s version of the character is slightly different from the comic counterpart, who is the leader of the Serpent Society, let’s see what the MCU has to offer us with this spectacular casting.
6. Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley
Carl Lumbly made his first appearance as Isaiah Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and was introduced to us as the actual first Super Soldier who was unwillingly subjected to Super Serum tests. Because of racism back in the 1950s, Isaiah remained hidden and led a miserable life. However, in the trailer for Captain America Brave and The Bold, we see that a probably brainwashed Isaiah attempted on the President’s life. The theory is that The Leader is behind these attacks but the truth will be revealed only after the movie releases.
7. Liv Tyler as Betty Ross
Previously seen in The Incredible Hulk (2008), Liv Tyler is once again returning as Betty Ross, the daughter of Thunderbolt Ross. However, there is no concrete information regarding the extent of her role but considering she has always been against her father, the chances are that she might be working with The Leader. In Marvel’s comics, Betty herself has gone through some transformations so, maybe we could see that happen in live-action as well.
8. Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra
Shira Haas is an Israeli actor who is going to make her MCU debut with Captain America: Brave New World. She is going to appear as a mutant named Ruth Bat-Seraph aka Sabra. Her superpower is that she can transfer her life force to another person and grant them superpowers. However, we do not have a lot of details regarding the extent of her character. So, let’s wait and see what Marvel has in store for us, and till then, stay tuned with us for more such updates!
