Design & Build
The TUF Gaming FX504 features a unique aggressive look which is quite different from Asus’ ROG line of notebooks. Instead of the glowing ROG logo on the lid, the FX504 features a glowing Asus logo, with the same dull-red light. Inside, the design shows more of the notebook’s gaming DNA with angular graphics on the chassis and a red backlit keyboard.
Display
The display on the TUF Gaming FX504 measures in at 15.6-inches and offers 1080p resolution at 120Hz and a 3ms gray-to-gray response time. Asus boasts of 130% sRGB coverage and in our first look at the laptop, the display seemed quite vibrant with decent viewing angles.
Hardware
The notebook will be available in two configurations, one with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and the other with an i5 processor. The i7 variant comes with an Nvidia GTX 1050Ti, while the i5 variant has an Nvidia GTX 1050. We played around with the higher-end variant and the performance was exactly what you’d expect from a notebook of this caliber.
The membrane keyboard on the notebook has a nice layout with well spaced-out keys, boasting 1.8mm travel for smooth and tactile keystrokes. Ensuring durability, the FX504’s keys are rated for 20 million keystrokes, twice the industry standard. While the keyboard can’t compare with the mechanical keyboard on the G703, it’s fairly decent and the typing experience is definitely above par.
The notebook also features Asus’ patented Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system with Fan Overboost which ensures longevity as it keeps dust out of the system using the dedicated tunnels. The notebook weighs in at just 2.3kg which, for gaming notebooks, is quite lightweight. The 1TB Firecuda SSHD, paired with the 128GB NVME PCIe SSD, results in fast boot and game loading times, unlike other laptops in this price range which feature traditional HDDs.
Asus TUF Gaming FX504: A Durable & Lightweight Gaming Laptop
Starting at Rs. 69,990, the Asus TUF Gaming FX504 will definitely pose stiff competition to other entry-level gaming notebooks in the market due to its sturdy and lightweight build.
