Similarly, Chainsaw Man features an organization that gives a hard time to the deadly devils by using devil contracts. So, in a way, both series feature characters who manipulate evil energies to fight evil.

Chainsaw Man’s plot revolves around Denji, an undernourished young man who comes back to life after dying, thanks to his trusty dog-like devil called Pochita. Demon Slayer is another dark fantasy animanga franchise that is worth every bit of appreciation from the massive fandom. Despite coming with different narratives, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer share a similar supernatural theme.

In JJK, curses work from the shadows to eventually engulf humanity into darkness. Similarly, in Demon Slayer, demons go around killing humans without ever revealing themselves to the world. The series also introduces a group of powerful individuals who train the coming generation to go toe-to-toe with these demons, like how sorcerers train students at Jujutsu High.

Demon Slayer follows Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by a demon. After that, the boy joins a group that fights against these demons. Like Yuji, Tanjiro has to go through a tough training regimen to hone his skills. Check out the most powerful characters in Demon Slayer here.

Dororo and Jujutsu Kaisen feature entirely different stories but several elements make them similar. Both series involve supernatural elements that keep you hooked on to the series until the concluding moment. Both the main protagonists of Dororo and JJK have tragic histories.

Hyakkimaru fights the demons to get his body back and get revenge on his father, and Yuji chooses to fight curses to fulfill his grandfather’s last wish. On top of that, Hyakkimaru’s body was, in a way, cursed by the demons, and similarly, Yuji holds the King of Curses inside his body. So, in a way, both Hyakkimaru and Yuji learn to fight evil from the inside.

And like the other supernatural series, Dororo also features several fight scenes that enchant every fan. Compared to Jujutsu Kaisen, Dororo is much more tragic in terms of storyline.

  • IMDb: 8.2
  • MyAnimeList: 8

Black Clover’s protagonist Asta shares several similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yuji. Both series feature underdog heroes who eventually become the strongest after undergoing rigorous training. Both Yuji and Asta show strong determination towards their goals before becoming potent enough to fight enemies.

Yuji, from the very beginning, lacks cursed energy, but he makes up for it with his superhuman strength. Well, Asta isn’t much different as he also lacks magical powers in a world full of magic. Apart from that, JJK and Black Clover have some visually appealing action scenes that you can’t resist praising.

Black Clover revolves around two orphans, Yuno and Asta. While the former has an exceptional hold on magic, the latter does not have anything to be proud of. However, despite being the odd one, Asta never gives up and aims to become the Wizard King.

  • IMDb: 9
  • MyAnimeList: 9
  • Created by: Hiroshi Kōjina, Atsushi Maekawa

While Jujutsu Kaisen has Yuji Itadori, Hunter x Hunter has Gon Freecss, who decides to head towards a dangerous path that might cause destruction. Both series come with dark and mature themes that might seem overwhelming to the viewers, but they are incredibly enjoyable.

Both Gon and Yuji are simple and fun-loving characters until someone pushes them to the edge; that’s when they show their dark side. Moreover, in Jujutsu Kaisen, the characters are seen using Jujutsu techniques to fight the battles, and HxH comes with a unique power system called Nen, which is the source of energy for every character.

The story of HxH revolves around Gon Freecss, who suddenly finds out that his father, whom he believed to be dead, is alive. So, he sets out on a journey involving several hardships to become a potent hunter and meet his father. The anime also sheds light on the importance of family and friendships.

Yu Yu Hakusho boasts supernatural elements, which makes it worthy of sitting on this list. Besides that, several other aspects make it somewhat similar to our beloved Jujutsu Kaisen. Like Curses in JJK, spirits in Yu Yu Hakusho want nothing but to take over the world.

While Yuji Itadori in JJK can fight the deadly curses barehandedly, Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho can battle spirits by manipulating their energies and using his incredible martial arts abilities.

Yu Yu Hakusho centers around Yusuke, who is killed in an accident but then revived as a Spirit Detective by the son of the Urderworld’s ruler, the king. Throughout the series, Yusuke is seen honing his skills and fighting the spirits that are destroying the human world.

  • IMDb: 8.3
  • MyAnimeList: 8.6
  • Created by: Tetsurō Araki, Masashi Koizuka

Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen fall under the dark fantasy genre. Both series see dedicated organizations fighting threats that haunt humankind. JJK and AoT have main protagonists who undergo character development that surpasses our expectations.

Eren fights the Titans by controlling the power of a Titan that’s residing inside of him. Similarly, in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji shares his body with Sukuna’s evil aura. Both Eren and Yuji share a dark past, which ultimately justifies why they are the most crucial characters in their respective worlds.

Attack on Titan revolves around Eren Yeager, Mikasa, Armin, and several other members of Survey Corpse as they decide to sacrifice their lives to fight for humanity against the Titans. If you seek a spectacular storyline with some great action scenes, Attack on Titan is a must-watch for you.

8. Soul Eater

  • Genre: Action, Dark Comedy, Dark Fantasy
  • IMDb: 7.8
  • MyAnimeList: 7.8
  • Created by: Takuya Igarashi
  • Studio: Bones
  • Episodes: 51

In Jujutsu Kaisen, we get to see students of Jujutsu High spend day and night polishing their skills so that they can fight curses. In Soul Eater, however, we see the Death Weapon Meister Academy preparing students to fight the threats they might have to face in the future. Besides that, like JJK, Soul Eater also focuses on the character relationships, be it friendships or rivalry.

In JJK, we see sorcerers coming together to prevent the full awakening of Sukuna, the King of Curses. Soul Eater, on the other hand, takes place in Death Weapon Meister Academy and revolves around three pairs of Meisters and Weapons. Every pair is tasked to consume the souls of the evil humans so that they can stop Kishin’s resurrection. So, characters of both JJK and Soul Eater fear one particular evil entity who can destroy everything they love if awakened.

Jujutsu Kaisen is surely a unique story that features some of the best characters we have seen in all of anime. However, these are some of the best shows that are somewhat similar to JJK, whether in terms of story, animation, or characters. Of course, hardcore fans may argue that many other shows also deserve to be on this list. However, I’ve decided to include the most popular ones that you can watch on anime streaming apps. What other anime shows would you recommend to our readers?
