5 Things We Know About the OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus is gearing up to launch the first wave of its flagships for 2019, and this time around, we’re expecting to get a OnePlus 7 and a more powerful, more flagship-y OnePlus 7 Pro along with it. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has even started teasing the OnePlus 7 on Twitter already, so a launch date must be fast approaching as well. So, if you’re as hyped about the OnePlus 7 Pro as we are, here are 5 things we know about the OnePlus 7 Pro:

1. Design

First off, the design. The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to become the first OnePlus smartphone to come with a curved display that’s reminiscent of the Galaxy S8, S9, and S10 flagships. That does bring to mind problems related to palm-rejection and accidental touches, but here’s hoping OnePlus is able to fix those issues.

5 Things We Know About the OnePlus 7 Pro

Still, a OnePlus phone with a curved display might be a very attractive proposition for OnePlus fans looking for something that looks and feels more premium than every other OnePlus phone out there.

2. Display

The OnePlus 7 Pro is also expected to get an upgraded display. While OnePlus phones have so far stuck with Full HD and Full HD+ AMOLED displays, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to come with a QHD+ display (a first for OnePlus). That’s not all though, rumors suggest the display on the OnePlus 7 Pro might also feature a 90Hz refresh rate — that falls in line with Pete Lau’s “Fast and Smooth” statement, since a 90Hz display will definitely look and feel a lot smoother than a regular 60Hz AMOLED panel.

3. Battery and Charging

On the battery front too, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be joining the leagues of Android phones offering pretty big battery sizes. According to leaks and rumors, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to come with a pretty big 4,000 mAh battery. Plus, thanks to OnePlus’ 30W Warp Charge technology, you can expect insanely good charging speeds on the phone as well — that has always been one of the many great things about OnePlus devices, and it doesn’t look like it’s about to change anytime soon.

4. Stereo Speakers

Now this might not sound (pun intended) like a big deal, but honestly, stereo speakers make a huge difference, and the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to come with stereo speakers (finally!). OnePlus has chosen to skip stereo speakers so far, even when almost every other flagship comes with it, but it looks like the company has finally realized that a stereo speaker is pretty much a must have in this day and age.

5. Triple Cameras

The OnePlus 7 Pro is also expected to come with a triple rear camera set up, with a telephoto and ultra-wide angle lens joining the primary wide-angle camera on the back. The front camera will be stuffed in a pop-up module to get an almost completely bezel-less display. While we’re not yet certain about the actual camera specs, how cool would it be if we got the IMX586 on the primary camera here? That might be a possibility, but it might also be wishful thinking.

So yeah, those are the 5 things we know about the OnePlus 7 Pro so far. Apart from all of that, the OnePlus 7 Pro will definitely come with flagship grade specs. There will be the Snapdragon 855 processor for sure, paired with (maybe) up to 12GB of RAM? 10GB is pretty much guaranteed at this point. We can also expect a 512GB storage option, however, 256GB is definitely going to be there. Moreover, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to use the new USB v3.1 Type-C standard for faster transfer speeds if you use USB OTG storage devices.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the OnePlus 7 Pro will most definitely be more expensive than ay OnePlus flagship of the past, but at least it will have features that might justify the price. We’re expecting a mid-May launch for the phone, so we should get more details in the coming weeks.
