Will Spider-Man Appear in Daredevil: Born Again? Here’s Why I Think Not

In Short
  • Tom Holland's Spider-Man will not appear in Daredevil Born Again.
  • The speculation of his appearance rose after the Kingpin mentioned Spider-Man in his speech against the vigilantes in New York.
  • The executive producer of Daredevil Born Again confirmed that since there are copyright issues with Sony, it's highly unlikely for Spider-Man to appear in Daredevil Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again made its debut with two episodes last Tuesday, and it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios is not as cooked as we thought it was. Bringing back The Man Without Fear has once again spiked the viewership chart of Marvel, and if just two episodes could do that, one can only imagine the potential the rest of the show has. After a particular monologue by Kingpin, fans are speculating that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could have a cameo in Daredevil: Born Again. Now, even though that would be cool, I think it’s not going to happen, and here’s why.

Daredevil: Born Again made a super solid debut with its first two episodes, and this time around, we see that Wilson Fisk/Kingpin has leveled up to be the Mayor of New York City. However, the highlight that brought in the speculation of Spider-Man’s appearance in Daredevil Born Again was a speech made by Kingpin while addressing his new anti-vigilante policies as the Mayor. In his speech, he said-

“We don’t need a gun-toting vigilante who wears a skull on his chest, or a man who dresses in a spider outfit. Or a guy who wears devil horns to save us.”

Now, it’s pretty obvious that Kingpin is referring to The Punisher, Spider-Man, and Daredevil, and listening to the reference made towards Spidey, fans got pretty excited since this could be pointing towards a cameo by the Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again.

Spider-Man Cannot Appear in Daredevil Born Again, and Here’s Why

Even though it would be infinitely cool to see a Spider-Man and Daredevil team up in Born Again, it is highly unlikely to happen. The main reason for this is that the right to long-form content featuring Spider-Man belongs to Sony, and it will be a hassle to get Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in the show.

Executive producer of Daredevil: Born Again, Brad Winderbaum, recently talked about the appearance of Spider-Man to Brandon Davis on his podcast, where he said that they will most probably not be able to reel in Tom Holland to appear as Spider-Man.

“You know, I’m not sure exactly what the rules are, but I think Sony have long-form television rights, I don’t know if that means he can show up. You can do like 30-minute animation, I think.” – Brad Winderbaum

So, with that being said, we can all agree that witnessing the Daredevil and Spider-Man team-up is still quite far away for us. So, even though it might be disappointing for fans, our beloved Spidey’s interaction with Daredevil was limited to Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. However, with Spider-Man 4 confirmed to be happening, there is still a chance for this to happen. So, let’s wait and see, and till then, stay tuned with us for more updates!
