The fans didn’t expect John Dutton’s death to happen in the first episode of season 5’s second part. John was the backbone of his ranch, and his death set things in motion. Kayce Dutton Is the Perfect Choice as His Father Wanted
Throughout the show, Kayce Dutton has contemplated the idea of taking over the ranch after his father. He has always been facing the dilemma of choosing between his family or the ranch as he saw in his vision. We are all well aware that his father, John Dutton, has always wanted Kayce to take over after him. Before his unexpected death, John sought the help of his son to run this place as he had to attend his Governor’s duties at Helena.
At the end of season 5 part 1, Monica accepted John’s request and remarked that Kayce could finally have both the ranch and family running this way. What was supposed to be an interim role for Kayce has become a duty for him to take command of now after his father’s death in the series.
The latest episode of Yellowstone season 5 part 2 focused on the aftermath of John Dutton’s death and how the people close to him were grieving over their loss. Kayce confirmed he is going back to the lodge in Yellowstone Ranch as the duty calls even though the Kayce family moved to the Eastside Camp to start over recently. Therefore, Kayce has a lot of things to take care of such as avenging his father and also running his cattle business.
We don’t what fate has in store for the Dutton Ranch but since the ranch is under conservation easement now, Kayce will be running the ranch for now as he needs to step up. This is the only way he can secure the ranch for future generations i.e., leave it for Tate as his grandfather envisioned as well.
The war for the land between Beth and Jamie has already been declared in part 1. Now everything will unravel slowly in the second part of season 5 and we will see what will happen to the ranch in the upcoming episodes.
