Padme was born to her parents Ruwee Naberrie and Jobal during the Age of the Republic on the planet of Naboo. However, early on in her life, the people recognized her potential for public service, and as she grew up, she was elected as the Queen of Naboo. She was a political idealist and was a firm believer in the ideals of democracy. She even attempted to put an end to the clone wars using peaceful methods but it did not work out.

However, the turning point of her life turned out to be her secret marriage to Anakin Skywalker. Due to schemes laid out by Sheev Palpatine, Amidala’s rulership was put to a test after the Trade Federation blockade followed by the invasion of Naboo. Her armies were unable to hold off the Droid Armies deployed by the Federation. When the Senate of Coruscant ignored her pleas for reinforcements, she was assisted by the Jedi order resulting in the liberation of Naboo from The Federation.

After the war of Naboo, Padme joined the senate in hopes of calling down the separatist crisis using diplomacy instead of a war resulting in her becoming an important voice of the Loyalist Committee. However, her ideas were not encouraged by some people and she became a victim of an unsuccessful assassination attempt by the Trade Federation.

Following this, she was removed from the capital and sent back to Naboo under the protection of Anakin Skywalker who acted as her guard. Gradually both of them fell in love with each other. However, the Jedi Code forbids personal relationships so they got married in secret but their time together was limited since Clone Wars required Anakin to go into battle as a Jedi general for The Republic.

Soon, Padmé revealed to Anakin, while he was still playing a part in the galactic war that she was pregnant. Anakin developed a fear of losing his wife to childbirth which seduced him to the Dark Side of The Force. He believed that becoming a Sith Lord would grant him powers to protect her from dying. When Padme came to know about this, she confronted Anakin on the planet of Mustafar thinking that he had not completely fallen to the Dark Side.

However, she was proved wrong when Anakin tried to kill her. Soon she died during childbirth still believing that there is some good still left in Anakin who has now taken the persona of Darth Vader.

If not she, Padme’s children, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Amidala Skywalker grew up to become major players in Star Wars to bring the tyrannical empire to its knees. Leia grew up to follow her mother’s footsteps and became a major political voice advocating ideas of freedom, liberty, and democracy. On the other hand, Luke Skywalker went under Jedi training and became a legendary hero of the Rebel Alliance.
