The Big Bang Theory Cast: Where Are They Now?

The Big Bang Theory is a show that will light up an interest in the field of science inside you. This show is perfect for people who are often regarded to be “weird” just for being smart since it shows us that everyone is different in their way and has nothing to be ashamed about it. Six years have passed since the last episode of The Big Bang Theory was released. So, it’s natural to get intrigued about what the cast is up to now. So, if you are as curious as me, here’s what the cast of The Big Bang Theory is doing now. Some of our favorite characters from the sitcom have changed in appearance since they first appeared in the show, so we have also included ‘then and now’ photos of the cast of The Big Bang Theory.

1. Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper

Jim Parsons took up one of the most iconic roles on television, and appeared as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. In the show, he is eccentric and probably on the autism spectrum but has the IQ of a supercomputer. However, even after being a pain to his friends most of the time, he is loved and cherished.

Jim was 34 years old when he first appeared in The Big Bang Theory. He is 51 years old now, and after TBBT, he has appeared in several titles.

Even while The Big Bang Theory was running, Jim Parsons was actively working on several other projects and appeared in The Big Year (2011), The Muppets (2012), Hidden Figures (2016) and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019). After concluding The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons was still actively involved in The Big Bang Theory universe. He was the executive producer and narrator of Young Sheldon, which recently concluded after 7 seasons in 2024.

Jim also produced the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat, starring Mayim Bialik. This show was nominated for Emmy Awards, and following this, he appeared in Hollywood, a Netflix miniseries, bagging another Emmy nomination. Most recently, Jim appeared in theater performances like Mother Play and Our Town in 2024.

2. Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter

Johnny Galecki appeared in The Big Bang Theory’s cast as Leonard Hofstadter, a Physicist and Sheldon’s best friend. For playing Leonard, Galecki bagged an Emmy nomination as well as several SAG Award nominations. While working on The Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki was also working on several other projects and appeared in Hancock (2008) and In Time (2011).

He also reprised his role as David Healy from the 1992 show Roseanne in its 2018 reboot. However, after appearing in Roseanne, Johnny Galecki retired from acting and has not appeared on screen since then.

3. Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz

Simon Helberg was already a recognised name in the comedy industry even before he appeared in the cast of The Big Bang Theory as Howard Wolowitz. In the show, he is the only among his friends who does not have a Ph.D., but is an aerospace engineer and an ex-astronaut. You will be surprised to know that Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg are friends in real life as well.

While Simon was working on The Big Bang Theory, he was a part of some critically acclaimed movies like A Serious Man (2009) and Florence Foster Jenkins (2016). After the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory, Simon Helberg appeared in Annette(2021), Space Oddity (2022), and As They Made Us (2022). Most recently, Simon Helberg has bagged a role in the popular TV show Silicon Valley.

4. Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali

Kunal Nayyar appeared as Raj Koothrappali in The Big Bang Theory. This was Kunal Nayyar’s breakout role, where he portrayed an Indian astrophysicist and Leonard’s best friend. While still working on The Big Bang Theory, Kunal Nayyar gave his voice in Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and then again voiced the character of Sanjay in Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig (2013). He has also been a constant in the Trolls franchise, where he voiced Guy Diamond.

He also published a book in 2015 titled Yes, My Accent is Real: And Some Other Things I Haven’t Told You. Kunal Nayyar has most recently appeared in Criminal: UK on Netflix as well as on Apple TV+’s Suspicion. In 2024, he appeared alongside Adam Sandler in Spaceman and since then has not come up on screen.

5. Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler

Mayim Bialik joined the cast of The Big Bang Theory in season 3 as a potential love interest of Sheldon after matching in a dating site. She appears in the show as a neurobiologist, and even though her relationship with Sheldon has significant ups and downs, they end up getting married in the finale of The Big Bang Theory Season 11.

Even before becoming one of the most recognisable characters from The Big Bang Theory, Mayim Bialik had some significant roles under her belt. She had appeared in the critically acclaimed 90’s show, Blossom. She has also done voiceover jobs on popular shows like Johnny Bravo and  Kim Possible.

After the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory, Mayim tried her hand in direction and not only directed but also wrote and produced As They Made Us, released in 2022. From 2020 to 2023, she joined her on-screen husband, Sheldon or Jim Parsons, as executive producer of Call Me Kat and also acted as the lead in the show.

6. Kaley Cuoco as Penny

Kaley Cuoco appears in the cast of The Big Bang Theory as Penny. She is nothing like the scientifically driven trio but instead is an extroverted and aspiring actor. She lives next door to Sheldon, Leonard, and Raj and eventually dates and later gets married to Leonard. While working on The Big Bang Theory, Kaley also starred in Killer Movie (2008) and The Penthouse (2011)both of which turned out to be box office flops.

After The Big Bang Theory wrapped, her second big break came from voice acting when she joined the DC Animated Universe in 2019 as Harley Quinn in her standalone series while also being the executive producer. Following this, Cuoco formed her own production company called Yes, Norman Productions, and The Flight Attendant, released in 2020, was the first project of her company, where Kaley appeared as Cassie Bowden till the show ended in 2022.

After the success of The Flight Attendant, Kaley produced and acted in movies like Meet Cute (2022) and Role Play (2024). Most recently, she appeared in Peacock’s comedy show Based on a True Story, whose season 2 concluded in 2024.

7. Melissa Rauch as Bernadette Rostenkowski

Melissa Rauch took up the role of a microbiologist named Bernadette Rostenkowski in The Big Bang Theory and made her first appearance in the show’s third season. She dated Howard for a while and then got married to him in the finale of The Big Bang Theory Season 5. She has had a good career in the acting industry with roles in highly acclaimed shows like True Blood and The Office. She has also appeared in movies, including I Love You, Man (2009) and Ode to Joy (2019).

In addition to her acting achievements, she also co-wrote, co-produced, and acted in the critically acclaimed movie The Bronze, released in 2015, which premiered at the Sundance Festival. In 2017, Melissa Rauch joined the DC Universe as the voice of Harley Quinn in the animated movie Batman and Harley Quinn. Most recently, she appeared as Judge Abby Stone on the reboot of The Night Court.
