Solo Leveling Ragnarok: Does Sung Suho Have the Same Shadow Powers as Jinwoo?

Solo Leveling’s sequel series smartly shifts the focus from Sung Jinwoo to his son, Suho. However, it does not mean the magic is lost. The spin-off maintains the same sense of mystery and hype around the Shadow Monarch while also building up a great story for the new protagonist. Sung Suho is not that different from his father since he also starts as a weak hunter. However, the question that we often see fans ask is if Suho also has the same Shadow extraction powers as Jinwoo. Well, here’s the answer.

Warning: This article includes heavy spoilers for the Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa, so we suggest you read the web novel or manhwa to avoid ruining the experience.

Can Sung Suho Can Extract Shadows Like Jinwoo?

Sung Suho was born after Jinwoo became the Shadow Monarch in Solo Leveling, so it’s perfectly normal to assume that he must have inherited the various Shadow abilities from his father. Well, that assumption isn’t wrong. However, there are some limitations to Sung Suho’s Shadow powers, including Shadow Extraction.

It’s true that Suho can also extract shadows of the dead enemies and use them to fight for himself. However, when Suho first developed this power, he couldn’t store the shadows like his father, and the count was also limited to three. This means that the shadows that Suho extracted died after some time. The shadows used to stay with Suho only temporarily.

However, there was no point in extracting shadows if Suho couldn’t use them later on in the fight. So, Suho came up with a rather brilliant solution. After killing enemies, Suho used to store their dead bodies in a Shadow dungeon. Then, he visited the dungeon to extract shadows whenever he required.

Suho had to use the workaround above until he developed the ability to store shadows, similar to his father. However, even then, he got the ability to store only one Shadow, unlike his father, who could store at least 20 shadows when he developed this ability.

You could say that until this point in the series, Suho can’t build a Shadow Army despite having the ability of Shadow Extraction. That is why he had to go through the entire Demon Castle without any sort of Shadow Army.

That being said, Suho does have other Shadow abilities, including Monarch’s domain. Also, there’s one unique thing with Suho’s Shadow Extraction ability. Apparently, he can change the shape of his shadow to his liking. Even though we haven’t seen Jinwoo manipulating the shape of his shadows, it’s likely that he can also do this, given that he is the ultimate Shadow Monarch.

Does Sung Suho Have Access to the System?

Like Jinwoo who is chosen by the System, Suho starts his journey with the training system called The Tutorial. He faced several challenges as part of his training in the Tutorial and had to face opponents like Beru, Bellion, Igris, and even Jinwoo himself.

However, Suho didn’t retain any of the powers he got from the Tutorial in the real world. In fact, he didn’t even remember going through the Tutorial until his memories came back after fighting some monsters years later.

On the same day, Beru arrived on Earth at the behest of Jinwoo to train the “Young Prince.” Beru then starts training Suho through the System, which was remoulded and even improved to meet Suho’s needs. So, yes, Suho has access to the System, and he has to go through the same challenges that his father faced when he was a player.
