Eiichiro Oda has been carefully dropping hints about Shanks having an evil twin brother for years. However, the majority of the fans scoffed it off as it was Shanks all along. Then the author successfully caught the fans off guard in the Elbaf arc, where he introduced Shanks’ evil twin brother. Since then, Shanks’ look-alike has always been seen hooded and remained a mystery, leaving fans waiting with bated breath for the complete reveal of this character. Oda has finally revealed more about Shanks’ brother, the newest member of the Figarland family. So, here’s everything you need to learn about Shamrock Figarland in One Piece.

Who Is Shamrock Figarland in One Piece?

Figarland Shamrock is revealed as the evil twin brother of Shanks in the Elbaf arc. Yeah, you heard that right, he is confirmed to be the eldest son of Figarland Garling, the newest Elder. With this reveal, House Figarland instantly becomes one of the most powerful families in One Piece, like the Monkey D. family in the story.

Furthermore, Shamrock is mentioned as the captain of the God’s Knights, aka Holy Knights. Since Garling has been promoted to the Elder Star position in the story recently, he must have made his son take over the group. However, keep in mind that Shamrock’s current leader position is stated to be different from Garling’s supreme commander title.

Is Shamrock Shanks’ Brother?

Should that even be a question now? Shamrock explicitly stated that the pirate Shanks is his younger twin brother, which makes him the elder twin brother in the series. Even before the confirmation, their indistinguishable character designs had already given it away, and we only wanted to find out who was the elder.

Before Shamrock’s official introduction, fans wondered about the relationship between Garling and Shanks, such as whether the old man is either Shanks’ father or grandfather in the story. Now that it is confirmed that Garling had twins in the story, he is the father of two of the strongest characters in One Piece currently.

As the Elbaf arc is inspired by Norse mythology, fans already predicted Garling’s twin sons could be based on Skoll and Hati, the wolves that chase the sun and the moon. Shanks has always stood with Luffy (the sun god Nika), and Shamrock is following in the footsteps of his father, who has a crescent moon-shaped design. Now this theory is becoming a reality with each passing day.

Why Does Shamrock Look Like Shanks?

One look at Figarland Shamrock and you can already tell that he possesses the unreal charisma of his brother. To top it off, Shamrock remains calm and composed, just like Shanks. The only way to differentiate them is, of course, the slight distinctions in their character designs.

Shamrock has long braided hair, but the most important thing is that he doesn’t have any facial scars, and his left arm is intact. The fandom is already calling Shamrock the most handsome version of Shanks. However, Shamrock also has the distasteful pride of a World Noble as he mentions his younger brother likes the filthy lower world rather than the Mary Geoise.

What Is Shamrock’s Sword Devil Fruit?

Since Gunko was revealed to be a devil fruit user, everyone expected Shamrock to be unveiled as a devil fruit user soon. Don’t you think it’s perfect for the twin brother of a non-devil fruit user like Shanks to have an overpowered devil fruit power? A glimpse of Shamrock’s powers was showcased in the Elbaf arc.

When Loki started to threaten him, Shamrock instantly drew his sword and summoned three-headed dogs, aka Cerberus. It should be noted that we haven’t witnessed any other swordsmen summon something out of their swords. Furthermore, Shamrock’s powers are now confirmed to be derived from the underworld, in contrast to Shanks, who had attacks with divine titles.

Shamrock could summon and retrieve the guardian of hell as he desires via his sword. So, this could be the case of a sword consuming a Mythical Zoan devil fruit.

But if so, Oda would have mentioned the Devil Fruit’s name instead of simply calling it Cerberus. Now that raises the question of Shamrock being a devil fruit user, or did Imu offer him this wicked power? We have to wait a bit more to find out. But Shamrock is also confirmed to possess tremendous Haki like his brother.

How Did Shanks and Shamrock Get Separated?

As you might know, Figarland Garling was also present during the events of the infamous God Valley incident. However, did you know that he was the evil mind who orchestrated the Native Hunting Competition? When Garling was on a mission nearby, he discovered the remnants of the Davy clan living on the God Valley island.

During this time, Garling also met an unknown female inhabitant of God Valley, tricked her into thinking he was in love with her. Together, they gave birth to twins, Figarland Shamrock and Shanks. The unnamed mother took care of her twin children while waiting for their father’s arrival. Upon returning, Garling slew his lover with his sword as he had his eyes set on the ultimate prize of the competition, Shakky. So, that is why we will never get a chance to meet Shanks’ mother in the story.

The gravely injured mother somehow made it to the inside of a house with her twins to save their lives. Then, Monkey D. Dragon (Luffy’s father), a young Marine at that time, discovered Shanks’ mother. In her dying breath, Shanks’ mother asked Dragon to take her kids far away from their father and save their lives.

Dragon was not a strong character at this time, and he vowed to save the twins. While he was on the run, Satchels Maffey, a God’s Knight member, found Dragon and attacked him with her lasers. The twins got separated that day, with Maffey taking Shamrock, thinking there was only one kid. Thankfully, Whitebeard interrupted and attacked her, which allowed Dragon to save only Shanks and escape from that doomed place. Later on, Roger found a baby Shanks inside a treasure chest after the God Valley Incident.

Who Is the Voice Actor of Figarland Shamrock in One Piece?

It is confirmed that Kenjiro Tsuda will play the role of Figarland Shamrock in the One Piece anime. Kenjiro has been a well-known name in the voice acting industry for a long time. He became extremely popular and a fan-favorite for many after his roles as Nanami Kento in Jujutsu Kaisen, Genichiro in Sekiro, Kishibe in Chainsaw Man, and many more.

But did you know that Kenjiro has already worked on the One Piece anime? Yes, he lent his voice to Vinsmoke Yonji, Sanji’s brother, previously. Now, the actor has rejoined the One Piece VA cast to voice a main antagonist, Shanks’ evil twin brother.

For ages, Shanks has been trolled to the extreme for being a rat because he was seen talking about a certain pirate to the Gorosei in the Levely arc. This led to theories stating that Shanks could turn out to be an antagonist towards the end of the story, but there was one massive problem — it completely contradicted what Shanks’s character was all about, i.e., a peacekeeper.

Currently, Shamrock went back to the Holy Land, Mary Geoise, due to an emergency there as Imu requested. Hence, we have to wait once again to learn more about the evil twin in One Piece.
