  • Japanese Name: Kakumei Gun
  • Debut: Episode 52, Manga Chapter 100
  • Supreme Commander: Monkey D. Dragon
  • Main Ship: Wind Granma
  • Total BountyAt least 2,564,000,000 Berries

Before you meet the members, here is a quick overview of the Revolutionary Army organization. As the name indicates, the Revolutionary Army is a formidable military force in One Piece commanded by its supreme commander, Monkey D. Dragon. They were previously known as the Freedom Fighters.

Dragon, Emporio Ivankov, and Bartholomew Kuma founded this organization right after the Ohara tragedy. The objective of the Revolutionary Army is to topple the World Government and revolt against its oppressive authority. The organization is also opposed to the Celestial Dragons because they abuse the weaker people by taking advantage of the World Government’s power.

So, as the rebellious leader of this organization, Monkey D. Dragon is known as the World’s Most Wanted Criminal in One Piece. Due to their actions, they used to have a secret headquarters on the island of Baltigo. But after the raid of Blackbeard Pirates, they switched their base to Momoiro Island, home of the Kamabakka Kingdom.

Revolutionary Army Ranking System

The Revolutionary Army has a hierarchically structured ranking system, like the Marines in One Piece. Here’s a quick look at the ranking system within the Revolutionary Army.

As mentioned above, this organization is led by Dragon, the supreme commander. He holds the topmost authority as their leader, but he has a well-known character as his number 2. Similar to how every pirate captain has a right-hand man, Dragon has chosen Sabo as his “Number 2” in the Revolutionary Army. Sabo holds the Chief of Staff position and is the second most powerful person in authority after Dragon.

Next in line in terms of power and authority, we have the Army Commanders. Depending on the geological structure of the One Piece world, the Revolutionary Army is split into five armies led by their Army Commanders and their assistants, Deputy Commanders (much like Captains and Vice Captains in the Marines). Together, these armies are scattered across the seas to revolt against the corrupt World Government by setting the lands free from their reign.

Under the supervision of the Army and Deputy Commanders, we have officers in the Revolutionary Army in One Piece. Their role is to assist the superiors in battle and manage other operations of the organization.

All Revolutionary Army Members in One Piece

Now that you know about the origin and goals of the Revolutionary Army in One Piece, let’s take a look at its rebellious members:

1. Monkey D. Dragon

  • Position: Supreme Commander

Monkey D. Dragon, the father of Luffy, is the primary founder of the Revolutionary Army. He leads the group as their Supreme Commander. Recently, it was revealed that Dragon used to be a Marine, and when he witnessed the crimes committed by the World Government in the name of justice, he left the organization. When the whole world just sat and watched the World Government doing inhumane deeds, Dragon raised his voice against the oppressors with the Revolutionary Army. He has been branded the worst criminal in the world for being righteous.

Dragon has not launched any major rebellion or attack against the World Government so far in the story. However, Imu confirmed that Mary Geoise, the Holy Land, is in flames in the most recent One Piece chapter. So, let’s wait and see if Dragon has finally taken action against the tyrannical rule of the World Government soon.

2. Sabo

  • Position: Chief of Staff

Sabo, the sworn brother of Luffy, hails from a World Noble family. However, he loathed the nobility and abandoned his luxurious life to become a pirate. When he was almost pushed to his potential demise by St. Jalmack, Dragon rescued him, fortunately. Since then, Dragon took Sabo under his wing, and eventually, he became the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army. He is considered the No.2 of this organization after Dragon and is dubbed the Flame Emperor in the series right now.

During their Kuma rescue mission, Sabo barged into the throne room and learned the secret about the shadowy ruler Imu and their disciples, the Five Elders. Although he couldn’t save Nefertari Cobra, he made it out alive back to their home base. He has learned crucial information about their adversaries, and this will greatly help them in their war against the World Government soon.

3. Emporio Ivankov

  • Position: G Army Commander

Emporio Ivankov, aka Iva-chan, is also one of the significant members of the Revolutionary Army. He was enslaved when he was a kid and forced to participate in the Native Hunting Competition in God Valley, similar to Kuma. However, Iva escaped with Kuma and Ginny from the fateful incident. Iva started his adventures after leaving Kuma and Ginny in the Sorbet Kingdom.

He then crossed paths with Monkey D. Dragon at some point in his life and joined forces with him. Together with him, Iva became one of the founding members of this organization. He is one of the most respected army commanders. Moreover, Iva is knowledgeable about the Twenty Kingdoms as he was the first character to reveal a little about Imu’s identity, i.e., theorizing Imu’s true name could be Nerona Imu and that they could have become immortal using the Perennial Youth Operation.

4. Bartholomew Kuma

  • Position: Army Commander

Bartholomew Kuma has been one of the victims of the World Government’s cruel reign since he was just four years old. Kuma’s whole family was enslaved, and his parents were later killed by Celestial Dragons. Kuma eventually settled with Ginny in the Sorbet Kingdom after escaping the God Valley Island. The pair was imprisoned for their rebellious acts against the king of Sorbet Kingdom, but that’s where Dragon came in and rescued them by overthrowing the tyrannical rule.

At this point, Kuma’s fate intertwined with Dragon, and he enrolled in the Revolutionary Army along with Ginny. Both Kuma and Ginny rose to prominent commander positions inside the army. For unknown reasons, Kuma’s commander position is never revealed in the story to this day. However, Kuma parted ways with the Revolutionary Army after losing Ginny and needing to take care of Bonney, who suffers from Sapphire Scales disease.

Nevertheless, Kuma is still revered as one of the most loyal and founding members of the Revolutionary Army. The Straw Hats saved Kuma during the Egghead Incident. Let’s see if Lilith can restore him to full health and if he can return to his organization in the future.

5. Ginny

  • Position: East Army Commander

Ginny was first introduced during the God Valley flashback in the Egghead arc. She leaked information about the hunting competition and orchestrated the God Valley incident. After escaping from the Island, Ginny lived together with Kuma and signed up to become a part of the Revolutionary Army with him.

Eventually, Ginny became the army commander of the Eastern forces. However, she couldn’t continue to fulfill her duty as she was kidnapped by a Celestial Dragon. She was forced to marry and give birth to a kid which turned out to be Bonney. During this period, St. Saturn also experimented with Ginny, which led to her contracting the Sapphire Scales disease. Ginny died due to the disease shortly after getting kicked out of the Holy Land. Her final wish was to raise Bonney safely, and Kuma stepped up to fulfill that promise.

6. Karasu

  • Position: North Army Commander

The Revolutionary Army commander who impressed the fans with his fascinating Devil Fruit powers during the raid on Mary Geoise is Karasu. He is the commander of the North army and truly lived up to his position as he was seen holding his ground against Admiral Fujitora. He may be a quiet man, but he always stands firmly against anyone who targets the weak. His Susu Susu no Mi is a versatile devil fruit power which Karasu perfectly utilizes to his will.

7. Belo Betty

  • Position: East Army Commander

Belo Betty is one of the very first commanders we were introduced to when the Revolutionary Army was saving the inhabitants of the Lulusia Kingdom in the Reverie Arc. With her Kobu Kobu no Mi devil fruit power, she can uplift people’s spirits and awaken their inner strength. This is quite an interesting power, right? And it is a befitting power for a Revolutionary Army commander, which will help their organization in the final war. Following the death of Ginny, Belo Betty received Kuma’s blessings to become the next East Army Commander in the series.

8. Morley

  • Position: West Army Commander

Morley is a giant okama working as the West Army Commander of the Revolutionary Army. She played a vital role in rescuing Kuma from the Holy Land as the giant fought evenly with Admiral Ryokugyu. Morley ate the Oshi Oshi no Mi, a ground-shattering devil fruit power with which she can manipulate and shape the ground like clay. Doflamingo considered Morley to be one of the main officers of this rebellious army, so we can’t wait to find out more about Morley in the future.

9. Lindbergh

  • Position: South Army Commander

We have one more commander in our list, Lindbergh, who leads the southern army. As his appearance hints at, Lindbergh hails from the Mink tribe. One can say Lindbergh is like a combination of Franky and Usopp, as he is a highly skilled inventor with exceptional shooting skills. Lindbergh freed the slaves in the Holy Land during their Kuma rescue mission. He may not be a Devil Fruit user, but he backs the organization with his creativity and marksmanship skills.

10. Inazuma

  • Position: G Army Deputy Commander

Starting from Inazuma, we will be meeting the Deputy Commanders of the Revolutionary Army. We met Inazuma first during the Impel Down arc alongside Emporio Ivankov. Now he is revealed to be the Deputy Commander of the G Army, which essentially means he is the right-hand man of Iva-chan. Inazuma paved the way for Luffy and his gang to escape from Impel Down with his Choki Choki no Mi, which enabled him to turn his body parts into scissors.

11. Jiron

  • Position: North Army Deputy Commander

Jiron is one of the characters who was introduced way too late in the story. He was revealed to be the Deputy Commander of the North Army. Therefore, Jiron works as the assistant of Karasu. We don’t know anything about his powers at the moment, as he was recently introduced in the story.

12. Ahiru

Image Credit: Toei Animation (via Fandom/One Piece Wiki)
  • Position: East Army Deputy Commander

Ahiru was working closely with Belo Betty since her debut. As expected, she was later revealed to be the Deputy Commander of the East Army. Remember the time Oda had plans to make Nami a cyborg in the series? It’s an unknown fact about Nami, and it seems like Oda implemented that plan for Ahiru, as she is the only known female cyborg in One Piece. Ahiru remarked that she can shoot with her cybernetic arm, but we have to wait to see it in action.

13. Ushiano

Image Credit: Toei Animation (via Fandom/One Piece Wiki)
  • Position: West Army Deputy Commander

No one would have missed seeing the guy with a cattle face among the Revolutionary Army members. It is not a result of his Devil Fruit; it is because he comes from the Cattle Mink tribe. Ushiano is the Deputy Commander of the West Army, which makes him the assistant of the giant Morley. Similar to other deputy commanders, we haven’t seen Ushiano in action. However, being a Mink means he possesses the Sulong form and Electro ability.

14. Gambo

Image Credit: Toei Animation (via Fandom/One Piece Wiki)
  • Position: South Army Deputy Commander

Oda must have been inspired by the famous ‘Humpty Dumpty’ so much that he came up with his own version of it as Gambo. He is the Deputy Commander of the South Army and assists Lindbergh we met earlier. Gamba has been part of the Revolutionary Army for a long time, as he was seen in Kuma’s flashback. Apart from this and his peculiar design, we don’t know much about this egg man at the moment.

Now that you have met all the important leaders and commanders, it is time to meet the rest of the Revolutionary Army members whose positions are yet to be confirmed. Fans must be familiar with Koala and Hack, who came with Sabo in the Dressrosa arc.

Koala is often paired up with Sabo as it is one of the most popular ships in One Piece. On the other hand, Hack is one of the strongest Fishmen we have met in One Piece. Apart from them, we have Moda, Terry Gilteo, and Bunny Joe as part of the organization.
