Loki, chained up in the underworld for his misdeeds, announced himself as the Sun God who would bring about the end of the world. In the manga series, the Sun God is revered as a savior figure, but Loki has been represented as a God of Destruction by the Giants from the start of the Elbaf arc.

Loki, referring to himself as the Sun God, hints at the legendary Devil Fruit power passed down in Elbaf’s royal bloodline. No one has eaten this national treasure before, as they were never seen as worthy in the eyes of Ragnir. It is said to be powerful enough for Loki to slay his father to obtain this devil fruit power. That is why the King Slayer is labeled as the accursed prince and the shame of Elbaf in the homeland of the Giants. However, now things have played out quite the opposite of what we were initiallyled to believe.

We have been left to wonder what this devil fruit could be since the start of the Elbaf arc. Following a long wait, Oda has finally shared a first look and more details about Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece Chapter 1170. This devil fruit was guarded by Ragnir, a hammer that became partially sentient by eating the Ratatoskr-based Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. Loki proved to be worthy and successfully ate the Devil Fruit in front of Ragnir.

He has a beastly transformation, with claws emerging from his hands, similar to the transformation of Zoan users. So, what could be the potential Devil Fruit that Loki ate to kill his own father? Let’s find out.

What Is Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece?

We are almost sure that Loki’s Devil Fruit will be a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, as his transformation hints at. These Mythical Zoans are usually reserved for the stronger figures, and Loki is indeed one. Thus, let’s start predicting what Loki’s devil fruit power is based on the clues we have until now:

1. Niddhogr

In manga chapter 1141, Ripley stated that lightning and fire are the biggest weaknesses of Elbaf, as their nation is entirely built on top of tall and massive trees. Now, Loki is confirmed to have Ragnir, a lightning-summoning hammer similar to Mjolnir. So, the lightning part has been covered, and the fire part is yet to be addressed.

Yes, the lightning on impact creates fire, but I think there is more to it. During Big Mom’s flashback, Mother Carmel mentioned that Sun God mitigated the chaos caused by child Linlin with the powers of fire. Now, Loki, calling himself the Sun God, points out that he has a fire-related devil fruit. There are already two fire-based devil fruit powers, namely Mera Mera no Mi (Flame Flame fruit) and Magu Magu no Mi (Magma Magma fruit).

So, Oda can utilize a mythical figure with fire powers, namely Nidhoggr from Norse mythology, for the new Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. Previously, it was expected to be Surtr, the fire giant, but the fresh details about Loki’s transformation, all the signs point towards Loki becoming the mythical Nidhoggr in One Piece.

Niddhogr is known to be the dragon that resides in the underworld and gnaws at the roots of the Yggdrasil tree. Coincidentally, Loki is also the one who is chained at the bottom of the Treasure Tree, Adam (One Piece version of Yggdrasil). As a dragon, Loki can breathe fire in tandem with unleashing the lightning powers of Ragnir.

The ancient mural of Elbaf also hints at a dragon playing a vital role in the final war, so our bet is Loki possesses a mythical zoan devil fruit model: Nidhoggr, and let’s not forget that this dragon is canon in One Piece as seen when a child’s fear of Nidhoggr resulted in a giant dragon nightmare.

2. Fenrir

Loki’s beastly transformation also hinted that it could be based on another mythical creature from Norse mythology, Fenrir. In the cover of One Piece Color Walk, the Straw Hats were seen along with a wolf. Coincidentally, the wolf featured a magenta and violet color similar to Loki’s official hair color. Now, those claws we saw in One Piece chapter 1170 could hint at Loki transforming into a Fenrir.

If not, there are still options such as Jörmungandr, Hræsvelgr, and more, from the Norse lands. Any devil fruit power inspired by Norse mythology is well-suited for Loki. These are the powers that could potentially become Loki’s Devil Fruit powers soon.

As Loki’s flashback is coming to an end, we may see him use his Devil Fruit powers against Imu and her forces in the upcoming chapters of the One Piece manga. In the meantime, what’s your favorite pick for Loki’s devil fruit? Do let us know in the comments below.
