What Happened in the One Piece Live Action Season 1 Ending?

Luffy and the Straw Hats made their way to Conomi Islands in order to get their crewmate, Nami, to save her from Arlong and recruit her back into the crew. Consequently, this mission ended up being a success as the Straw Hats defeated the Arlong Pirates and rescued Nami’s hometown.

But there’s a massive difference between the live-action and the manga in what happens next. At the end of the One Piece live action series, we see Garp finally catching up to and confronting Luffy. This didn’t happen in the manga as well as the anime until the Post Ennies Lobby arc (see the complete order of One Piece arcs here).

It was revealed at the end that Garp was testing Luffy all along to see how firm his determination was toward his beliefs and dreams. Next, we move back to the Straw Hats, featuring Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, reunited on the Going Merry. The live-action then borrows a scene that takes place at the end of the Logue Town arc (the next arc in the cards) for the conclusion of the first season. It shows the Straw Hats screaming out their dreams, placing their foot on top of a sake barrel, and setting sails for the Grand Line. Thus, the Straw Hat Pirates crew is officially born.

Luffy’s pirate crew will continue their voyage in search of the fabled One Piece treasure, making new friends and enemies as the adventure progresses. This will be covered in the upcoming seasons of the One Piece live-action series.

Season 1 of Netflix’s One Piece live action ends with a pre-credit scene, which introduces us to a new character. We can see this platinum-haired character holding on to Luffy’s bounty poster in one hand and two cigars in the other. That said, let’s find out who is this cool new character that was shown at the end of Season 1.

One Piece Live Action: Who Is the Character Teased at the End?

Well, long-time One Piece fans exactly know who this guy is and how awesome he is going to be in the upcoming season. However, for the newcomers, the character teased in the One Piece live-action ending is none other than Marine Captain Smoker, who is also popularly known as the White Hunter. It should be noted that Smoker is also a devil fruit user like our protagonist Luffy.

He has his trademark platinum hair, and he’s seen smoking two cigars like he always did in the source material. He was seen burning the first bounty poster of Luffy at the end. That’s because he will be playing a vital role in the upcoming arcs, trying to hunt down Luffy and put an end to the Straw Hat Pirates.

Basically, consider him a replacement for Vice-admiral Garp’s role in the first season. And if you haven’t noticed, we also got to see Smoker in the first episode of the live-action. A young smoker was seen at the execution of Gold Roger, and the team perfectly captured it by staying true to the source material as well. Here he is:
