Who is Colon’s Father in One Piece? Explored

Colon is the newest addition to the roster of adorable kids who act as a supportive cast in One Piece. While we initially thought he would be a character with a minor role in the Elbaf arc, Oda is shining the limelight on him. Colon is an interesting character to look out for in Elbaf, but what’s even more intriguing is the mystery surrounding his father. The creator has shared a few hints in chapter 1135, so let’s see the potential characters who could turn out to be Colon’s father in One Piece.

Spoilers Warning: This post contains heavy spoilers about Colon and the story of One Piece. Thus, make sure to read up to chapter 1135 beforehand to avoid ruining your intended experience.

What is the Identity of Colon’s Father?

Ripley, the newly introduced giant and biology teacher in Elbaf, is one of the warriors from the past generation of the Giant Warriors. She fell in love with a renowned human pirate and that led to the birth of Colon. What’s so special about her partner is the fact that he is dubbed to be a mighty figure who would go head-to-head against a giant. He wasn’t afraid of the giants’ enormous powers and we have some clues about who he is:

  • Colon’s father is confirmed to be a human
  • He used to be a legendary pirate which meant he had retired already
  • This mysterious character is also said to be younger than Ripley

Since Ripley belonged to the previous generation of Elbaf warriors, she should be above 100 years of age at the least, so only the pirates from the Roger era match these criteria. With that said, let’s take a look at the possible characters who could be Colon’s father in One Piece:

1. Scopper Gaban

Remember when One Piece fans debated over who was the mysterious man waiting for the Straw Hats at Elbaf? I believe these two mysteries are tied together, which means Scopper Gaban is the frontrunner here. Fans have been anticipating the return of the left-hand man of Gol D. Roger for decades. Since Oda is teasing a strong pirate who is not in action in the story, Gaban perfectly fits this profile.

The members of the Roger Pirates have always been involved in our hero Monkey D. Luffy’s dream to become the next pirate king. So, we can expect the comeback of the third-most important crew member of the Roger Pirates in the final saga of the story.

2. Shiki

A mysterious silhouette figure was seen roaming in the homeland of the giants when Oda warned the pirates about overstaying in Elbaf. Fans began to speculate that this mysterious figure could be Ripley’s husband. It makes sense that as a retired pirate, he could have settled down in Elbaf along with his wife and child.

As pointed out by the fans, the design of the silhouette matched Golden Shiki’s character and outfit. Shiki was once again established as canon with the God Valley flashback. Most of the crew members of the Rocks Pirates ended up as a powerful figure in One Piece. For example, Big Mom, Kaido, and more. So, Shiki being a powerhouse and the father of Colon would be reasonable.

3. A Completely New Character

There is a slim chance that Oda could come up with a completely new and overpowered character as Ripley’s partner. It could be even Louis Arnote, the explorer whom we haven’t met. There are only a handful of ex-pirates in the story, so Oda could introduce new characters in the Elbaf island arc. But how well they would fit in the story remains unknown at the moment.

We hope Colon’s father is currently staying at Elbaf because there is a big threat (the Holy Knights) who have invaded the giant’s castle. Luffy might need a hand against these formidable foes just like how Rayleigh helped them against admiral Kizaru back in the Saboady Archipelago arc (go through out One Piece arcs list). That said, who do you think is Colon’s dad in One Piece? Let us know in the comments below.
