Amazon has launched the Echo Spot smart speaker and display in India, which is a conventional Alexa-powered smart speaker with a round display to show videos, make video calls and, of course, shop on Amazon.
The Echo Spot has been priced at Rs 12,999 and is now available from Amazon’s India website and Amazon kiosks in Bangalore and Mumbai, and over 350 authorized retail stores across 20 cities in India.
As an introductory offer, the Echo Spot will be available for just Rs. 10,499 from Amazon and its retail partners viz. Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales outlets across the country for a limited time. The device comes in White and Black color options and is already up for grabs with a promise of immediate shipping.
The Echo Spot features a front-facing camera to facilitate ‘Alexa-to-Alexa’ video calls between two Echo Spot units or to a compatible smartphone with the companion Alexa app for Android and iOS.
The Spot’s circular screen allows users to accomplish a wide array of tasks like watching videos, booking cabs, playing music, and ordering food. They can also use it to shop for products on Amazon.
Aside from launching the Echo Spot, Amazon has also slashed the price of the Echo smart speakers currently available in India and has also introduced discount offers on purchase of more than one Echo device.
Moreover, the Echo Plus smart speaker, which costs Rs. 14,999, will now come with a free Philips Hue bulb. This marks the second time that the Echo smart speakers have received a price cut, as Amazon also slashed their price when the Google Home line-up was launched in India.
