Xiaomi has managed to take over a major chunk of the Indian smartphone market with its budget and mid-range Redmi series. The Redmi Note 4, which was launched last year, has become India’s best-selling smartphone because of powerful specs at an unwavering price point. The Redmi Note 4 is now a part of an aging group of devices, both in design and function, so we’re now looking forward to the launch of its successor, the Redmi Note 5. And we’ve been witnessing a large number of leaks for the device on the Internet over the past weeks. So, here’s everything you should know about the Redmi Note 5:

Redmi Note 5 Leaked Photos
The first set of photos of the Redmi Note 5 to ever make its way to the Internet were the ones uploaded to TENNA, the Chinese certification authority’s, website. Unlike the Redmi Note 4, the Redmi Note 5 will seemingly bring an almost bezel-less display.
While the certification leaks suggest that Redmi Note 5 will look as above but we’ve since got our hands on real-life samples of the device and they tell a completely different story. As you can see in the images attached below, the device sports a dual-rear camera system with 16MP and 5MP sensors.
There is no surety whether this leak is true or not but we can expect the Redmi Note 5 to bring dual cameras and an 18:9 display to the budget segment, where the device will go head-to-head with the recently launched Honor 7X.
Redmi Note 5 Launch Date and Pricing
Since Xiaomi is primarily focused on bringing flagship specs to the budget segment with its widely-known Redmi series, the Redmi Note 5 will be no exception. According to sources, the Redmi Note 5 will be available at a starting point of nearly 1,599 yuan (~Rs. 15,000) for the 3GB & 32GB variant.
The Redmi Note 5 has today also bagged a listing on JD.com but it is wrapped in red cloth and the guided price of the device has been quoted as 8,888 yuan. This price is only symbolic and means the launch of the device is definitely imminent and could happen in the coming weeks. There’s no concrete information of the launch date, as of now but the Redmi Note 4 was unveiled in January 2017, so we can expect the Redmi Note 5 to launch in December 2017 or January 2018.
