On 21 June 2023, the official trailer for The Marvels was released, marking the return of Captain Marvel in the lead role, and some other exciting characters as well. The Marvels Release Date (Confirmed)
The Marvels, set to release on 10 November 2023, was initially introduced to us with a release date of July 28, 2023. But with Kevin Feige’s introduction of the MCU phase 5 outline, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania was pushed to an early date, while The Marvels was pushed back to be released on the current release date.
Other than that, another reason for the delay in release was the Writers Guild of America’s ongoing strike and The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strike. Due to the request of these guilds and unions, the performing artists, writers, and advertisers were not able to go ahead with the promotions of the movie. Even though there are a number of rumors floating regarding a delay in the release date, Currently, The Marvels is confirmed to release on its newly announced release date of 10 November 2023.
The Marvels Trailers
On 11 April 2023, the long-awaited sequel for Captain Marvel was officially teased with its first-ever trailer, launched exclusively at the D23 Expo and later streamed on YouTube. The upcoming movie was previously titled Captain Marvel 2, but since other major characters are also a part of this movie, it was renamed to The Marvels. In the teaser, we see the SABER battle station (also shown in Secret Invasion) for the first time along with Nick Fury as its head. The teaser reveals certain elements about the upcoming movie.
We get to know that the powers of Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau are entangled together, and they switch places with one another when they use their light powers. On top of that, there is an imminent threat to the world while the heroes are trying to figure out what’s wrong with them.
On 20 July 2023, the official trailer of The Marvels was released at SDCC 2023. The trailer tells us more about the storyline of the movie, introducing us to how the powers of Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau got entangled with each other.
We also learn more about the villain of the movie (more on this below), who seems to have powers similar to that of Ronan the Accuser seen previously in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1. The trailer makes it seem that the movie is going to be action-packed and fun to watch with the action sequences, punchlines, and childish humor of Ms. Marvel shown to us. But to know how well Marvel has been able to put together these heroes, we will have to wait till 10 November 2023.

The Marvels Cast & Characters
Along with Captain Marvel, we will get to see Teyonah Parris playing the role of Monica Rambeau. We witnessed Monica gain powers during the events of WandaVision, and now, we will get to see the adult version of the character.
Kamal Khan aka Ms. Marvel will finally join the larger scheme of the MCU. Played by Iman Vellani, the character rose to popularity through her own Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel. Samuel L. Jackson will also be seen reprising his role as Nick Fury, who recently fought off a Skrulls invasion. Who is Goose the Cat
In the trailer of The Marvels, we are introduced to a furry and floofy cat as well named Goose but don’t be deceived by the cute little face of this creature because Goose is not really a cat. Goose comes from a race of alien creatures that resemble cats and are called Flerken or Flerkens in the plural. These creatures resemble Earth cats in every other aspect except the fact that they lay eggs and are man-eaters. They have huge tentacles which they use to capture and consume their prey.
Goose is the pet of Carol Danvers who took it with her after the events of Captain Marvel (2019). She was left on Earth by Mar-Vell and was left alone at the base of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. Nick Fury found Goose and kept it under his care later on, handing it over to Captain Marvel. The Marvels Plot: What’s the Story?
As far as the plot of The Marvels is concerned, Marvel is famous for keeping its lips shut about its projects. But we have some plot details about the upcoming movie. According to a Reddit post made by MarvelStudios_Rumors, and as per the latest trailer for The Marvels, in the movie, we will get to see that Captain Marvel’s powers are destabilized by Dar-Benn using a bangle similar to that of Ms. Marvel, and because of this, they are entangled with the powers of Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel. While the three heroes try to figure out what is happening to them, the safety of the universe is being threatened by an extremely dangerous enemy.
According to an exclusive image posted by Entertainment Weekly, we see Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) standing in what looks like the SABER battle station, and behind her, there’s a group of Skrulls looking in her direction.
In Marvel’s Secret Invasion episode 6 (finale), Nick Fury was seen returning to SABER space station and this is where we will find him in The Marvels. Even though we are not sure that Skrulls will play an important role in the movie, but there is a possibility that we might see Carol living up to her promise of providing the Skrulls with a new home planet she promised them years ago.
Also, towards the end of the Secret Invasion finale, we see Nick Fury talk about a peace treaty between Skrulls and Kree, which might hint that Skrulls might finally get the home they were promised.
The Marvels Villain Revealed
As the antagonist of The Marvels, or the main Villain, we will get to see Dar-Benn. Making its first appearance in Marvel comics in Silver Surfer #3 in the year 1991, Dar-Benn was a Kree general who was responsible for creating unrest among the Skrulls and the Kree, waging a war between the two species. Although, originally, Dar-Benn was a male character who had been transitioned into a female played by Zawe Ashton. She’s seen wielding an Accusers’ Hammer, similar to that of Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Marvels Post Credit Scene (Rumored)
Marking the return of Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau, The Marvels holds the potential to become one of the highest-grossing Marvel movies to date. But this movie holds a lot more than that to itself, according to a tweet shared by CanWeGetSomeToast, details of The Marvels post-credits scene have leaked.
As per the tweet, at the end of the movie, Kamala Khan or Ms. Marvel will meet up with Kate Bishop. They will be seen discussing Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang aka Ant-Man. So, as we all know, Marvel Studios is about to release a series revolving around Ironheart played by Dominique Thorne.
We have also seen her in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Moreover, we have already been introduced to Eli Bradley, played by Elijah Richardson, the character who later takes up the mantle of Patriot in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Lastly, we met America Chaves, played by Xochitl Gomez in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

In the year 2005, Marvel published a comic named Young Avengers #1, which revolved around all these young heroes. What I am trying to say here is that, if these rumors are true, The Marvels could be a canon for a live-action adaptation of Young Avengers, presenting us with a team-up of these young heroes, and the possibility of that happening is pretty high with the original team of The Avengers gone.
