Kraven the Hunter Origin
According to the comics, Sergei Nikolaievich Kravinoff aka Kraven The Hunter was born and brought up in Volgograd, Russia. He was born into an aristocratic family in the early 20th century during the Russian Revolution due to which his family lost the status of nobility. Later, Kravinoff discovered his talent for hunting when he started hunting as a profession in Kenya, Africa. Even though he initially hunted using the tools and weapons hunters usually use, he soon developed a taste for hunting down animals with his bare hands.
He then met a Voodoo witch doctor named Calypso, who gave him an herbal potion that highly enhanced his physical abilities, giving him superhuman abilities matching those of a lion. After gaining these powers, Kravinoff turned into “Kraven the Hunter” and became the greatest hunter in the world. He followed the path of his father who was a hunter as well to fulfill his sense of nobility.
Kraven the Hunter Powers
The origin of Kraven the Hunter’s powers, according to the comics, tells us that he consumed an herbal potion made by Calypso for him. This caused him to go through significant physiological changes. This made him a superior being as compared to a normal human, giving him superhuman abilities identical to those of a lion, and putting him on top of the food chain.
However, in the upcoming movie adaptation, Kraven the Hunter gets his powers after being attacked by a lion. As soon as the blood of the lion gets mixed with Kravinoff’s blood, it causes a mutation in his DNA. This mutation gives Kraven the Hunter his superhuman abilities, including a psychological connection to animals, allowing him to command and control them.
- Superhuman Strength: Calypso’s potion granted Kraven the Hunter superhuman strength, enabling him to lift weights of more than two tons.
- Superhuman Stamina: Kraven’s mutation caused him to develop an exceedingly proficient muscle system, which prevents him from feeling fatigued easily. He can use his physical capabilities to maximum efficiency for hours before feeling fatigued.
- Superhuman Agility: Kraven the Hunter is equipped with an agility that is unparalleled by any other human being. His agility is enhanced to such an extent that at times he has been able to outperform Spider-Man.
- Slowed Down Ageing: Kraven’s potion significantly changed his aging process, slowing it down significantly. His aging slowed down to such an extent that he had the physical appearance and vitality of a 30-year-old even when he was in his 70s.
