In an expected event, terabytes of data sourced from Apple's Testflight server has leaked online. Named "TeraLeak," the leaked data contains thousands of builds of iOS apps and games dated from 2012 to 2015. While it's still unclear where the data originated from, the single source of information is an X (formerly Twitter) user @Teraleak.
Apple introduced PQ3, the new post-quantum cryptographic protocol for iMessage. PQ3 is the first messaging protocol that qualifies to reach what Apple calls "Level 3 security", and offers extensive defenses against even highly sophisticated quantum attacks. The new iMessage security protocol is claimed to surpass protocols in all other widely deployed messaging apps.
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms that Apple generative AI features are coming later this year at the quarterly earnings call. This backs the rumors that iOS 18 could be the biggest iPhone software update in Apple's history. The giant has plans to integrate AI across all its software platforms- iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. After Epic Games and Spotify, Microsoft now calls Apple's revised App Store guidelines in the EU "a step in the wrong direction." First spotted in December 2023, Microsoft is quietly developing an alternative Xbox app store for iPhones. It seems Microsoft isn't happy with Apple's fees and commissions on app installs and third-party payment mechanisms. At the moment, Microsoft, Nvidia, and other big cloud gaming providers haven't reacted to Apple's plans to open up the App Store to game streaming apps.
