How to Use Beme App to Share Video Experiences Instantly

The popular social app Beme made a lot of noise when it arrived on iOS as a beta app, thanks to YouTube sensation Casey Neistat, who is the co-founder of the company behind the app. Now, the app has received a major update, which marks its first stable release (out of beta) and its arrival on Android. So, if you’ve always wanted to use the instant video sharing app on Android, you can now do that! However, the app can be a bit confusing, so we are here to help you out with that. But before we let you know how you can use Beme, let us tell you what exactly Beme brings to the table. Let’s begin, shall we?

What does Beme app do?

As we mentioned, Beme is a social app that lets you share instant video experiences to your friends. The app lets you record videos with a gesture, so that you can focus more on the experience rather than the video being recorded. You don’t even get to see the real-time video recording. Also, there are no filters or preview, so you capture a video and it just goes live. Basically, the app lets users showcase the world from their point of view.

The homepage of Beme is a lot like Instagram where you see video clips of people you follow. You can use the “React” button to record a reaction video to a friend’s video in real time. So, now that we have established what Beme does, let’s dive into how you can use it.

Set up your Beme acccount

• Sign up for a Beme account

When you first open up Beme, the app will ask you to login or sign up for an account. When you tap sign up, an introductory video featuring Casey Neistat will be played and there’s an option to skip it. Then, the app will ask for various permissions it needs. After you have selected “Enable” and allowed the permission prompts, a tutorial video will be played. After that, you will have to enter your email address, select a username and enter a password to register.

• Add friends using Beme

The app will also ask for your phone number so that friends who have your number are able to find you through it on Beme. Once done, you will be able to add contacts from your phonebook, Twitter and Facebook friends list. A welcome screen should follow and then, you will be presented with the home page of the app.

How to use Beme?

You’d not be wrong to think that Beme is very similar to Snapchat but there are a few major differences. Beme lets you watch a video clip innumerable times and the app’s USP is definitely its ability to let you capture video clips by using the proximity sensor on your phone.

• How to capture video in Beme?

To start capturing a video clip in Beme, all you need to do is cover the proximity sensor of your smartphone (In case you are unaware, the proximity sensor is located above the display on almost all smartphones). You can even place your device on your chest or forehead to get an action camera like capture.

Another way to capture a video is by hitting the floating plus button in the app. The button brings you options to shoot from the rear or the selfie camera. To start capturing, simply hold one of the options and release it when you are done capturing.

As soon as you capture a video, it’s uploaded on to Beme but if you don’t like the clip, you can hit the three-dot button on top of the clip and select “Undo last clip”.

• Search for people and change Settings

The top of the app’s interface features buttons for Your Profile, Reaction Notifications and Username Search respectively. In Your Profile, you can edit your profile picture, add a status like on WhatsApp, check out the number of views on your videos, followers and people you follow.

There’s also a button to dive into the app’s Settings in the Profile page. The Settings page features a few privacy & notification options, options to change your number, email etc., contact support and Beme merchandise purchase link. The search icon, well, lets you search for people by username.
