How to Add Calculator in Quick Settings on Android Nougat

Android 7.0 Nougat brings a good mix of new features like split screen multitasking, along with updates to older features like Quick Settings. The Quick Settings are a pretty handy feature, considering it gives you access to various options quickly. With Nougat, the toggles are now customizable, which could be done on Marshmallow as well, however it required digging into hidden options. Also, Google has opened the API of Quick Settings to developers, which means there are some very cool Quick Settings apps to install. So, if you’ve always wanted to add a calculator to Quick Settings to do some calculations on the go, it’s possible and here’s how to do it:

1. First, head to the Play Store and install the Quick Settings Calculator app. The app is available for free and is only available for Nexus devices because they are the only ones running on Nougat.

2. Once installed, the app will automatically add a calculator to Quick Settings’ available toggles that you can add manually. The app does not offer any options that you can play with but you can check it out if you want to disable the calculator shortcut or share the app.

The feature will be certainly handy for people who are coming from an iPhone, as iOS features a calculator toggle right in the Control Center. The ability to do calculations in the notification center through the calculator shortcut in the Quick Settings is certainly a quicker way, rather than going to the Calculator app. In our testing, the Quick Settings Calculator works like a charm and lets you do calculations with ease.
