Putting It to Use: How to Get the Most Out of Your iOS 7 Update

If you have an iPhone, or you’re waiting for your 5S to come in, you’ve probably heard that Apple’s OS has upgraded to iOS 7. While updates are always exciting, there are many things about this one that make it different than any of you’ve experienced before. Generally speaking, iOS 7 is the most radically transformative update Apple has ever rolled out.

Sites like Music Magpie have seen a large number of people sell their old iPhones to make room for the new model with iOS 7 already included, and if the talk is accurate, there’s a good reason for it. Simply put, Apple has pulled out all the stops and drastically improved user experience in creating this new operating system. While this means lots of new features for you, it can also mean that the features are a little hard to find. Knowing what you’re looking for is half the battle, so be sure to keep an eye out for the following time-saving tricks that can help you get the most out of your iOS 7 update.

Automatic App Updates

If you’re like most people, you’ve become rather tired of getting endless notifications letting you know an app has an available update. Apparently Apple heard about it, too, because the new iOS lets you set up automatic app updates, so you’ll never have to go in and manually do it again. Unless of course you really want to.

Change Siri’s Voice

Siri has been doing a fine job of answering questions, telling users where to go, and helping iPhone owners find valuable information. But apparently some people wanted a male version of the voice, as well, and Apple has made that possible.

AirDrop

Lamenting about the difficulty you’ve experienced attempting to share files on the iPhone? AirDrop has come to the rescue, making it simple and easy to share documents with other iPhone users, and with your other devices, as well.

Timestamps

You can set up your messages to record a time-stamp for each message sent, which some people have been wishing for. This can come in handy for a variety of reasons, and for those who use the iPhone for business, it can be helpful to have time stamps on everything for verification purposes.

Simple Text Changes

If you want to change the size of the text on your screen, you can do so now with a simple slider tool. Gone are the days where you search endlessly through the phone for the settings menu and the sub-menu and the menu after that until the coveted “display settings” appears. Now you can use one little slider to change the text size and adjust it as needed.

Customisable iTunes Radio

The new iOS has a feature in place that allows you to programme iTunes Radio so that it plays more of the songs you love, and less of the songs you could live without. This Pandora-esque feature is beneficial, and helps improve the user experience for iPhone owners.

There are many other features available in the new iOS 7, but these are some of the most practical and/or interesting. Whether you use the iPhone for business or pleasure, or a little bit of both, expect to have a smoother experience with fewer glitches and more customization options.
