Indian Government Wants To Ban Porn, These Stats Show A Different Story

Porn is one of the most searched topics on Internet and each second more that 30 thousand people search for it on the internet.

In 2009, Government of India banned a website which hosted porn-toon portraying sexual adventures of a housewife. But, even today the content of that website is widely accessible on Internet.

Government of India has taken up a similar initiative yet over again. Indian Government has devised a plan; to start by creating a list of pornography sites, especially that host child porn, and provide that to Internet service providers (ISPs) to block. To ensure that large-scale blocking does not slow Internet access, service providers will be asked to upgrade their infrastructure. The Internet and Mobile Association of India has been asked to make the desired list.

Arvind Gupta, Head of BJP technological cell, made a statement, A solution may need to be worked out to prevent availability of pornography on the Internet considering the cultural sensitivities of the country.

This initiative is taken up by the Government with context to rising cases of rapes and molestations against children in general. They completely want to eradicate the usage of child pornography and pornography in one single sentence.

It is indeed a brilliant initiative taken up by the present Government to curb porn in India but it’s almost impossible to take porn out of India. The following statistics will make our stand firmer as to why it is impossible to ban porn in India:-

Interestingly, the business of Internet is hugely dependent on porn industry and without it will incur huge losses. The following statistics reveal only that:-

Every Second (in World)

  • 28,258 people are viewing pornography
  • 372 people are typing adult search terms

So, what do you think about this move by the Indian Government? Will it be a success or a move that was horrible to start with in the first place?
