Flipkart Digiflip Pro tablet goes on sale in India for Rs. 9,999

After being rumored since a very long time, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has finally unveiled its very own tablet. The Flipkart tablet has been launched under its in-house Digiflip brand and it’s dubbed Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT712. The leading Indian online retailer, which is nowadays also getting known as the “Amazon of india has been very busy of late. It recently acquired Myntra, the apparel online store, its Moto exclusives have been selling like hot cakes and now, they have entered the tablet market with the Flipkart Digiflip Pro.

The Flipkart Digiflip Pro features a metal body, which is 9.2 mm thick and weighs 285 grams. The device features a 7-inch IPS display of 1280×800 pixels resolution. It’s powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT8382 processor along with 1GB RAM for your multitasking needs. The device comes with 16GB of on-board storage and you can expand it further up to 32 gigs, thanks to the microSD slot.

On the camera front, the tablet comes with a 5MP rear camera with an LED flash and on the front, there’s a 2MP camera. The Flipkart Digiflip Pro comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on-board and Flipkart did not promise anything on future updates. This is surely bad, considering Android 4.4 KitKat has been around for sometime now and Google just announced Android L, the next major Android release.

The tablet packs in a 3000 mAh battery, which is rated for around 8 hours of talktime and 168 hours of standby time. The connectivity is well covered on the device, there’s Dual SIM connectivity along with 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. There’s voice calling in tow as well.

The Digiflip Pro is already available on Flipkart for Rs. 9,999 and the retailers is offerings various goodies with the device. You get rs. 5,00 worth of shopping benefits, Rs. 2,300 worth of eBooks, a free Plantronics ML2 Bluetooth Headset worth Rs. 1,199. That’s not all, you get 50% flat discount on Digiflip Pro book cases, which come in various cool colors including black, white, orange, red, and green. Along with that, the Digiflip Pro buyers also get free 1 month subscription of the Flipkart First service. Flipkart is also offering a “Try & Buy” offer for limited time, where in you can purchase the tablet and if you don’t like it, you can return it within 30 days to get a full refund. Phew, that’s quite a lot of offers from Flipkart.

The Flipkart tablet competes with the likes of the recently launched Lenovo A7-30, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo and the slightly higher priced Asus Fonepad 7 Dual. The Flipkart is well specced for the price and it certainly has the advantage of those offers, we mentioned just a while ago. All of them are 7-inch tablets, so it’ll be interesting to see who comes out the winner in terms of specifications. Take a look:

As you can see, the Flipkart Digiflip Pro is surely a better device but for the modest battery. The Asus Fonepad 7 Dual gives the Flipkart tablet a good competition and it might even get the Android 4.4 KitKat update, so it has that going for it and of course the beefier battery but it is higher priced.
