Best Camera Phones In 2013

When one considers to buy a smartphone, or for that matter, an expensive smartphone, its camera quality is one of the most deciding factors to consider buying it. Smartphone cameras have increasingly becoming important these days, especially after the social media influence in our lives. Smartphones are always connected to the Internet and they ease the whole equation when you want to click and show the enjoying moments of your lives with friends and family.

Let us have a look at some of the smartphones with best cameras this year.

1. Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the most awaited smartphones of the year and it well deserves the tag not just with good image quality but because of sheer number of features for clicking images and videos. It comes with a 13 MP autofocus camera, LED flash and full HD video recording. There is also a 2 MP front facing camera that is also capable of recording full HD videos. The camera has zero shutter lag and can also record videos and click images at the same time.

There are a lot of software features to be used with the camera such as simultaneous video recording of both front and back cameras. You can also record images with sound and remove unwanted objects in images with HTC Zoe like features  The image quality in the daylight come with outstanding details but low light images are not as good as Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC One but still, it is a good overall camera phone. The video quality is amazingly smooth and is one of the best of this year.

2. HTC One

The HTC One brings with it a brand new thought which changes the way smartphone industry sees the future of imaging. The new 1/3.2 inch image sensor in the HTC One produces just 4 MP images but with per pixel quality being more clear. It also has f/2.0 lens which lets more light in to produce more bright images even in low light. After Nokia Lumia 920, HTC is the one which uses the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) which results in better images even when your hands are shaky. It even helps in producing better images in low light by keeping the lens stable even at lower shutter speeds.

The new HTC Zoe can make movies out of your images and videos from selected events. The zero shutter lag camera can also record full sound profile while shooting videos in full HD. Right now, the HTC beats any other camera on per pixel quality, low light performance and video stability. The front facing 2.1 MP camera can also record full HD videos at 30 frames per second. The HTC One is only beaten in the image resolution where you get smaller area to crop a part of the image.

3. Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia was the first to bring out a technology that all saw only in dedicated digital cameras; OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) which also impacted negatively on its slimness. Nonetheless, the camera quality results were impressive as more light can pass into the sensor and OIS meant that images don’t come out blurry even after long exposure times (which are needed for better photos in low light). The 8.7 MP autofocus camera has LED flash and can record full HD videos. There is no zero-shutter lag in camera and you can’t click images while recording videos. It has some software lenses which can perform various unique actions such as shooting panorama images, creating GIFs and beautifying faces in the image. But under low light photography, this device throws everything else out of the water except the HTC One which comes very close to it.

4. Apple iPhone 5

The iPhone 5, which doesn’t give a lot of options with its cameras, still gets one of the best end results in image quality. The 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash is fast and can click images even while recording full HD videos at 30 frames per second. There is 1.3 MP image sensor for the front camera which can also record 720p videos.

Although it comes distant 3rd when it comes to low light condition images, it gets right a lot of things which other fail at. There are no nasty algorithms running under the hood to make images appear good and get some grains but the final images show a lot of details in it. Even without OIS, the video recording is smooth and can adjust focus and other things very fast.

5. Sony Xperia Z

Sony Xperia Z, the best effort from Sony for smartphones bring us a fast 13 MP EXMOR RS image sensor coupled with autofocus optics and LED flash. It can not only record full HD videos but also real-time HDR videos at 30 frames per second which was first of its kind. There are not a lot of features in the camera like the Galaxy S4 but there is one real gem in the camera UI. A mode called ‘Superior Auto’ can sense the conditions automatically and set the required settings without the user to be hesitated around. The overall images quality can be said as decent but due to lot of images processing algorithms working under the hood, the final image results might not be very sharp and full of noise. The Sony Xperia Z price in India is currently INR 35K.

These are the best smartphone cameras that can be bought if money is not a concern.
